Self Caricature

165 Students:
In your sketchbook, using your red pencil and the drawing techniques demonstrated in class, draw a caricature of yourself, four times on the same page. I will demonstrate inking techniques on Tuesday in class. Just in case you need some reminders from tonights class, check out the tabs at the top of the blog entitled "Caricature" & "Human Head" Have fun!

Ok, yes its strange, but after drawing myself in a fez I really needed to spin in an old TV set.

166 Students:
Go to the "Walk Fly Swim" tab at the top of the blog for drawing examples.

8/15 Homework

165 & 166 Students
1. For next class bring your red animation pencil (See Syllabus for the exact brand), and a 9"x12" blank, spiral bound sketchbook.
2. In your sketchbook or on an 8 1/5"x 11 sheet of paper, draw yourself as a zombie. It does not need to be colored or inked, please draw it full body, and fill the page if you can. Have fun, for this drawing messy is ok. Below is a sample of myself as a zombie. We will look at your drawings on Thursday.

Weekend Homework

165 Students:
Its time to begin the last part of you character animation. Using the same character that you have been working with for the walk cycle, choose one of the two jump cycles from the page shown below.

* The upper row represents the key poses for the Disney jump.
(More realistic)

* The lower row of drawings represent the key poses for the Warner Brothers jump. (Rubbery)

OR, you may pick one of the Neil Sanders style crazy walks, shown on the page below.

Goal, draw your character in the same key frame poses that are show in the examples. Remember,
to stay on model, copy the pose exactly. Pencil only!
See you Monday, when we review for the quiz!

166 Students:
I will review your scanned backgrounds with you.

165 Students:
Go to the walk cycle tab, scroll to the bottom, find the instructions for adding a blink and a pause to the current project. We will review on Thursday.
